| This journal was
made from our Scribe Leather Journal Kit
(discontinued). The
leather color is mahogany. To make the debossed oak leaves and acorns
I used a brass stencil (available at most stamp and scrapbooking stores).
I placed the stencil on the leather and held it down very securely with my
left hand (I'm right handed). I then used a
dry embossing tool to deboss
the image by rubbing in small circles until I had filled the entire image
with a depressed copy of the design.
Keeping the stencil in place I then used a
finger dauber to apply small amounts of acrylic paint.
The metal embellishments on the corners are
upholstery nails (available at hardware stores). I poked a hole in the
leather using the 1mm tip on my Japanese Screw Punch and then poked the
nail through. I cut the end of the nail off (use wire or diagonal cutters)
leaving a tiny stem sticking through the back of the leather. I hammered the end of the nail over so that there
wouldn't be any sharp points to scratch my text paper.
