Metal Mesh Ribbon

Gold Ribbon

Silver Ribbon

Metal Tubular Mesh Ribbon
Very fine mesh ribbon/tube of metal in either gold or silver colors. You can use it as a thin ribbon, you can stretch it cross-wise to form a wider ribbon or you can cut the tube open to make it an even wider, flatter ribbon. In addition to traditional ribbon uses, I'm thinking it would look great as stockings or a tunic on an art doll. I haven't seen this around much yet so I hope you'll let me know what you're doing with it. 6mm wide X 1meter long

$5.00

Sterling Silver

Use the tubes as spacers on your fabricated metal work

Book Front: Shows Sterling Silver Crimps/Tubes holding copper decoration up above surface of cover (see detail)

Sterling Silver Crimps/Tubes (~50)
Yes, they are the perfect crimp beads when you use our Crimp Pliers to close them, but we're excited because they are great when metalsmithing to use as tubes to lift one piece of metal up above another (see photo). We have these in copper too! If you are making rivets, these are perfectly sized for 20 Gauge Wire.

$7.50 (~50)

Copper Crimp Beads (~50)
These copper crimp beads are much better quality than what you usually find in craft stores and they are made from solid copper. They work perfectly with our new Crimp Bead Pliers and can also be used as spacers to raise one sheet of metal above another for a layered effect (see above). We have these in Sterling Silver too!

$4.00 (~50)

Crimp Bead Pliers are here

Gold Colored Pin Backs (5) (~1" long)
Use double sided tape or glue (2-part epoxy or E-6000) to make pins. They can be sewn onto fabric items too as they have holes in them.

$1.00 (5)

Fine Head Pins (50)
Fine head pins are a smaller diameter than regular pins. Have you ever had a bead with a hole so small that you couldn't get your head pin through it? What do you do? Grab your bead reamer and chance breaking the bead? These pins are the answer. They are a small enough diameter even to go through pearls! Now your journals can be finished with small, dainty, beautiful beads! They are made of base metal.

$2.00 / 50

Copper Lobster Claw Clasps
For all of your copper necklaces and bracelets, these large, easy-to-handle copper plated clasps are perfect.

$3.00

Copper Jump Rings
Each bag contains ~100 raw copper rings (sold by weight). They are the perfect size for attaching charms and dangly things to your books, chain maille, jewelry making, bails on soldered items, etc. We use these a lot!
Can be darkened with our Oxidizing Solution. Machine-cut and tumbled. Size is 18 gauge wire (finished rings are 6.65 - 7mm)

Sorry, we are temporarily
out of jump rings

Note about copper chain maille: Copper is a little softer than sterling silver. I recommend that you tumble-harden your piece after you've made it to harden the rings. it isn't completely necessary but adds a little security. If you solder, you might want to solder the rings that attach to the clasp ends.

Indispensable when working with small items like beads and jump rings, these Beading Felts keep things from rolling away. They are just padded enough to allow for easily picking up tiny items. Best of all, they are completely portable so you can take them with you from room to room or from state to state (and they make great packing material for the other things you have to take on trips).

Omni-Gel
Transfer Tool
This tool is great for transferring toner images to metal, for transferring Omni-Gel images to metal or glass and it's also great for doing transfers on collage. It comes with a metal stand but warning the stand gets very hot. Do not set it on something that will melt. Most transfers take place at about 250 degrees, but iron goes to 450 degrees. Follow the directions and don't burn your art!
Omni-Gel
It's a transfer medium. No, it's for oil painting effects. No, it's a glue. Omni-Gel is a wonderful medium (a heavy liquid) that can do so many things! My favorite use is for transferring images onto glass, leather, metal, wood, almost anything! It is much thicker than acrylic gel medium so the transfers are much, much more durable and easy to handle. Easy to use and the effects are incredible. 8 Fl. Oz. Instructions on bottle.

Mica
Large Mica Pieces
The pieces are large: they average 25 square inches each. You can use them as windows in book covers or even whole pages in a book. They are safe for rubber stamping and embossing. Sandwich photos or dried flower petals between the sheets. Use them in collages, paint on them, write on them, eyelet them (the Japanese Screw Punch is perfect for making holes in mica). I've even seen mica used in beautiful soldered lamp shades. The light shows through the mica for a muted effect.

I use our mica for firing enamels in my kiln. It's perfect for flat pieces (without counter enamel), and plique-à-jour. Preheat the mica in the kiln (without enamels) before using it the first time. This releases any air bubbles. -- Christine Cox

Have you seen my directions for drying flowers in the microwave without special equipment?

Each package contains a minimum of 1/2 oz. or 1 oz. large mica piece(s) which can be used as-is or can be easily split into several thinner pieces. Some of the random pieces are long and thin and others are more square. Please let us choose for you. The 5" square pieces are exactly what they sound like they are. There may be small imperfections such as missing corners, spots, etc. Please consider these artistic opportunities.

I love Omni-Gel! The cover of this book was made by transferring (with a Transfer Iron) the image (from an ink jet print) to a piece of glass. Then the glass was soldered to the cover of a Petite Metal Journal cover. The pages are the novel Peter Pan, which we sell as a Book in Sheets. We also sell this Metal and Glass Soldered Book as a kit.

Leafing Pens
Now in RED!
Krylon Leafing Pen

These are the BEST leafing pens! They dispense opaque metallic paint in your choice of colors:
  • Copper
  • Red
  • Gold

The chiseled tip allows for either broad or fine lines. Use them to highlight the edges of cards, color your soldered charms, paint wood. I like to use them to add sparkle and drama around the edges of each page layer in our Christmas Star Book Kit. They work for so many things because the paint is heavy and opaque and because they are made with real metal. Keep out of the reach of children. Follow instructions on package.

$7.00

Don't want your soldered charms to be silver colored? Try a leafing pen and make them gold, red or copper instead (not permanent).

Red leafing pen can be used for holidays or all year long

Reminiscent of snow; silver leafing pen on blue cardstock

Strap Webbing
We have 1" wide black webbing available in 5 yard packages. Other uses include; backpacks, luggage, harnesses, dog leashes, etc. If you cut the webbing, just seal it up with a lighter or a candle. You can get about 4 long shoulder straps from each package of 5 yards.

$7.50 / 5 yd.

Check out this Distressed Journal I made with a webbing strap.

Storage

6" Plastic Tubes (2)
These 6" long X 1/2" plastic tubes are just the ticket for storing so many things. You can cut them down with regular scissors and customize them for everything
from needles to an awl. Corral your eyelets and shepherd your beads. Buy several, once you get started, you'll find a million uses for them! We are now shipping our saw blades in these tubes for your storage convenience.

2 for $1.50

Since the tubes can be easily cut with scissors, I customize them for
everything and use a Sharpie marker to label them.
