Hotel Room ($513.45 for 6 nights, includes tax and breakfast) We have arranged for each student to have a 6-night stay (Sunday through Friday) in a single room in a local hotel at a greatly reduced price. We'll make all the arrangements. Just tell me when you sign up that you need a hotel room. Note, this is a VERY small town and amenities are few.
Breakfast is served Monday through Saturday at the hotel and is included in the hotel cost. We serve all lunches here at the studio and the price is included in the class cost. They tend to be home-cooked, deli and/or buffet style so that students can pick and choose foods that fit their diets. We try to accommodate everyone (within reason - you're on your own for tofu - blech). Please feel free to bring wine or other beverages to share (or add to the pool at the Monday night dinner at our house). We will supply sodas, iced tea and other non-alcoholic drinks. Wine, beer and other beverages are available at the hotel most nights. It is essential that you discuss with us in advance any special food needs or requests. Plans are made in an advance and can't always be easily changed at the last minute. Help us make you happy! Dinners are not included in the package, but the hotel has a lovely restaurant and there are lots of other restaurants only 8 to 15 miles away. Please plan to arrive on Sunday afternoon, relax and get to know your fellow students over dinner at the St. George. Class starts promptly at 9:00 on Monday. Dinner on Monday is served at our house as a little "thank you" party and ice breaker. The rest of the week dinner can be taken at the St. George or at any of the restaurants in nearby towns.
Be sure to read
all the small print, where we are, cancellation policy, etc. Classes are first come, first served and tend to fill early. I will either call you for your credit card information to hold your seat or email you to let you know if the class is full. Your ability to get into an intensive will be based on interest in the class you've chosen. Until we talk and your deposit is paid your seat is not reserved. Classes are very small (7 student maximum for 5-day classes and 10 students for 1- and 2-day classes). Please, do not sign up unless you are very serious. With only 5 to 10 students per class, I cannot be generous about cancellations. The cancellation policy is here. We supply everything, though there may be some optional items you want to bring along. If you have specific items (like photos or personal embellishments) you'd like to use in a project, bring them and we'll see if we can incorporate them, otherwise, rely on me for all supplies and embellishments. The classes are designed to be taken once or to be taken repeatedly. Students work with Christine to plan projects that will advance their current skills. Beginner to intermediate artists will be comfortable yet challenged in most classes. The classes complement each other nicely, moving gracefully between mixed-media and altered art, jewelry, bookbinding, paper marbling and much more. One of the benefits of the classes is learning from what other students are working on. As students work on individually designed projects, there is always cross-pollination. Studio Equipment The Volcano Arts Studio is Christine's "working studio." You will be working with her equipment and hand tools for the duration of the class.
