If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant.
-Anne Dudley Bradstreet

Nancy Parker
Class of 2006

Description:

Learn (or update your skills on) cold connections (no soldering). Students will have the opportunity to learn several ways to make rivets, anneal, cut, form and file metal (copper, brass, nickel).

The class focus will be on cold-connected jewelry, art parts (doll bodies, clocks, assemblage, whatever) and embellishments, etching and patinas, coloring and sealing metal.

Students can expect to complete several projects or a couple more complex ones. Study will be individualized to the group and to the student.

Notes:

  • Everything for all projects is supplied by the instructor, but working with sterling silver or similar upgrades will be extra (your choice).

  • Completely unique, this class is unavailable anywhere but at the Volcano Arts Studio.

  • * This class requires a certain amount of tool use. If you are unsure about your knowledge or strength please talk to Christine about it. If you've successfully completed any metalsmithing or bookbinding class with Christine Cox you should be fine.
