Policies
(fair and reasonable for all concerned)

Please use this page as a resource for all our policies. If you have any questions please email us.

Liability
We do not assume any liability for any product over and above the price of the product. If there is a problem, let us know. We'll work with you. We just cannot assume any liability outside of our control or contract.

Newsletter
Our newsletter is where we tell you about new products, upcoming classes, sales and specials and anything else we think you'd like to know. We automatically add new customers to our newsletter list. While most of our customers love it, a few don't. We HATE spam and would never send it, so on every newsletter we give you the option to opt out. In addition, if you unsubscribe from our newsletter we've set our list service to never allow us to add that email address again. You can add yourself, but we can't add you.

If you would like to receive our newsletter please click here.

Our (refreshing) Privacy Policy
As is rarely the case these days, with Volcano Arts Privacy means privacy!!! We will never sell or otherwise share your private information. Period. Also, we do not plant cookies on your hard drive or gather secret information about you. The only information we have is the information you give us. We are the only people who use it. Don't you wish all privacy policies were this 1) easy to understand (it's in English, not legalese) and 2) like, you know, private?

Returns
We at Volcano Arts are proud of our products, in fact Christine uses most of them in the Studio. We guarantee each against manufacturing defects and will replace any defective product for up to 30 days after purchase (unless a manufacturer's warranty supersedes ours). Also for 30 days after purchase, we will accept any product you purchased from us for refund (less a possible 15% restocking fee and shipping), unless you were specifically told at the time of sale that it was non-refundable (sale items, for example). All returns must be accompanied by an RPA (Returned Product Authorization) or they will not be accepted for credit. Please email us for an RPA.

Any products returned (other than defective items) must be in original packaging and must be re-sellable.

Shipping Address
Sometimes customers will have different shipping addresses on their PayPal account than the one they give us on an order. We always ship to the address on the order. If you want us to ship it to your PayPal address please enter that into the "Ship To" field on your order.

School Purchase Orders
Our terms on school purchase orders are net 20 days. If your district can work with this, please fax the PO and your school business card to 209.296.0685. Be sure to include your direct phone number so that we can contact you should a problem arise.

Shipping and Handling Charges

  • Best Estimate
At the time of your order our shopping cart makes its best estimate on the shipping amount, based only on weight. Unfortunately it has no idea about the dimensions of the products or how much can fit in a box, therefore sometimes the shopping cart estimate can be incorrect. Also, we try to be smart about shipping. If your order is for a tiny amount and we can fit it into a first class envelope, we quite often do that so that you don't have to pay for priority mail. If it's a heavy order that we can fit into a flat rate mailer, we will do that to save you money too. In any case, if the difference between what you authorize at the time of sale and the actual shipping cost is significant, we'll credit you in the same manner that you paid for your order.
  • If you feel that your shipping costs are out-of-line please email us and we'll look into it right away.
  • Handling
We charge $2.00 handling on every order.
  • International Orders
The cart has a problem with calculating shipping on international orders. The estimate on your order will probably be high. We will let you know the correct amount and credit the difference less our standard handling charge.

Shipping Times
Our shopping cart will make a shipping time estimate at the time you place your order. Remember, this is the time it takes the USPS to ship your order. It doesn't represent how long it takes us to get your order into the mail stream.

We ship by U.S. Postal Service priority or Express Mail and by international air mail or express mail. If one of these is not the delivery service you'd like, email your order to us with a note about your shipping preference and we'll do what we can to accommodate your request or let you know why we can't. We cannot ship by FedEx or UPS.

We are a 1-1/2-person business (Christine works 24/7 at this and Gene helps out in the evenings when he gets off work from his day job) and we'd like it to stay that way. Probably 97% of our orders are shipped within 3 or 4 days of our receiving them. The other 3% are delayed because of back orders or just plain busy-ness on our part. Bottom line? Don't make us guess. If you have a deadline, tell us on the order so that we can help you make it! In no way can we be responsible for missed deadlines. We're doing our best.

Feel free to email us if you would like the status of your order at any time. Just give us your name the way you entered it on your order and the order number from your confirmation email.

If your order is a Rush, please note that in the 'comments' section of the check out page and your order will be handled on a priority basis, usually shipping within 1 business day, barring back orders and unforeseen circumstances.

Remember, if your package weighs less than the USPS limit for 1st class mail, we'll probably change the shipping type to 1st class and then refund the difference to you. If you don't write "RUSH" on your order, even if the shopping cart says "Priority" we may send it first class.

What we're really trying to say here is that we do our level best to get orders out quickly. The great majority of the time we do but sometimes orders are delayed. We hate it, but it's a fact of life. If it's important that your order get to you by a certain date, let us know and we'll do what we can. Under no circumstances are we responsible for delays.

Volume Discounts
We offer volume discounts on most of our products. Depending on the product the first discount level may start at 3 units (Japanese Screw Punch) or 10 units (almost everything else). Please email a query and we'll send you a quote. Be sure to tell us specific products and quantities you are interested in. We can't quote without that information.

Occasionally we'll make an offer to customers to pool their orders with ours in order to meet a volume discount from our suppliers. These are always excellent deals for you. If you'd like to know about these special offers sign up for our Newsletter as that's where we announce them.

Wholesale Buyers

  • We no longer sell on a wholesale basis (although we do offer volume discounts).
  • We do not share our wholesale sources, ever.

If you have any questions on any of these policies, please email them to us.
